Video import and export to Youtube

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

With the new design on Animasher.com, we have also added some really cool features. For example, it is now possible to use videos (flv-files) in your animations. You can also upload your finished Animasher animation to Youtube. Here’s how…

1. You need a video in .flv-format.

If you don’t already have a flv-file on your computer that you want to use, you can use keepvid.com to download your video from Youtube.

On keepvid, enter the url to the movie on youtube you wish to use…

keepvid

Then you simply klick download…

download

and rightclick the download link that appears below, and choose “Save link as” and save it where you want it on your computer…

save link as

Now you have an flv video file for your next Animasher masterpiece!

2. Upload to Animasher

Now that you have the flv, just click on “Create” in Animasher and then “Video” and “Upload Video”, where you chose your flv-file…

Upload

Pick a name for the file, tags, and the settings you want for this video. Once that is done, and you’ve clicked “Save”, your uploaded video will appear in your library…

3.Create your animation.

Use the video, add images, music, sound effects, speech bubbles, and whatever you want to your animation. If you want to learn how, check it here.

4. Save and publish to Youtube

When you are ready with your animation, click save, and pick a name, tags and the settings you want for the animation. Once that is done, click “Save and share”…

When asked if you want to publish on Youtube, click “Yes”, fill in title, category, description, tags, and then provide your username and password for your account on Youtube (not Animasher).

Once that is done, click “Export” and you’re done! It might take a few minutes for Youtube to process your animation, but once that is ready, you can see it among your movies on your Youtube account!

Go for it! =)

New design and new features

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

Ever since we launched Animasher we have tried to improve it and added new features, like creating animated gifs in addition to the normal videos. Smaller changes that maybe wasn’t that easy to notice.

But, this time we made a bigger change. We have a totally new site! Well, the editor still looks pretty much the same, but on if you take a closer look it has some really cool new possibilities, like including video in your animation.

The rest of the site both looks totally different and has a lot of new community features, like a leaderboard, private messages, more profile information, recent activities and more.

As always when something changes, some people like it, others don’t, but we hope that it is for the better and that you all will come to like it as soon as possible. If you find something that isn’t working (there is always something…) please let us know!

Right now on the leaderboard (the complete list).

Most creative:

  1. ASADAS (171 animations)
  2. deanohuston (160 animations)
  3. KejiiMaeda (133 animations)

Most active in discussions:

  1. wolfy (1964 comments)
  2. TheCreator (1789 comments)
  3. ShadowBluestar (733 comments)

Most views:

  1. Robert (18938 views)
  2. waltew (13008 views)
  3. tweeky007 (8658 views)

Most popular

  1. JeT (613 top ratings)
  2. LORD_OF_ROCK (329 top ratings)
  3. ShadowBluestar (224 top ratings)

Oh, and if you want to change the look of the site a bit, just scroll down to the site footer and click “change theme”. Click it until it changes to something you like.

Have fun!

New user forum on it’s way

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

Since we have seen a lot of discussion going on in comment fields, with tips & tricks and so on, we figured we should set up a forum where it is easier to discuss by topic and give each other tips and tricks. We guess it will also help you all create even better animations with the tool.

The forum is in process now, and will be announced here soon.

Big thanks for the free forums by Lefora.

Better late than never

Finally, we have set up a blog.

We haven’t really figured out what we will write about here yet, but hope that we will:

  • be able to give some insight into what we are doing
  • get some feedback from our users
  • use this feedback to further improve Animasher

With that said, we welcome you to comment here on the blog. Be nice!
